Affordable probably isn't the word most people would choose to describe Redwood City real estate, especially when you look at this week's update and see that homes are selling at an average of almost $1.6 million and over $1,000 per square foot. This report, however, isn't suggesting that Redwood City's neighborhoods are the most affordable in the Bay Area, but rather they are where you get the most bang for your buck. With a steadily improving school system, a thriving downtown host to regular concerts/events, and pleasant tree-lined neighborhoods, it is no surprise to see Redwood City recognized for the immense value it offers to those who choose to live here.

Last week, Trulia released a report naming "San Francisco's 10 Best Value Neighborhoods". Redwood City neighborhoods landed 5 of those 10 rankings, including the top 4. Palm Park (1), Roosevelt (2), Redwood Oaks (3), Woodside Plaza (4), and Farmhill (8), all made the list, which was determined based on a combination of listing prices, Trulia's measure of entry-level affordability, school information, crime statistics, commute times and other neighborhood amenities such as restaurants.
